The aim of the course Classical and Contemporary World Literature – Practical Classes is to broaden the knowledge of the specifics of periods of literary history and to deepen the understanding of culturally influential literary texts, which mainly includes the overview of contemporary non-European literatures (Latin-American, African, Asian, Caribbean) with a focus on postcolonial literature. Practical classes introduce students to the independent textual, analytical, literary-historical, cultural and interpretative usage of the knowledge of literary periods and movements in the historical development of world literature and their formal and aesthetic features as well as their cultural and historical diversity. Practical classes build on textual analysis and models of interpretation and prepare students for their work in schools.
